Hot Dog Roast this Saturday!

There is lots going on this Saturday evening, Aug. 15, at Murphys Point!

The fun starts at 6 p.m. at the Campfire Circle near the Amphitheatre with a hot dog roast hosted by the Friends of Murphys Point. For a small donation, hot dogs and buns will be provided for you to roast over the campfire. Drinks and desserts will also be available as part of this fundraiser for Friends’ activities.

Mel joins us at 7 p.m. to read some of her favourite childhood stories by the campfire. Ideal for children under the age of 6.

At 8 p.m., wander over the Amphitheatre for a Nature Program called “Hunting at Night – How Do Birds Do It?” Join Mark as he feels his way around this dark subject, investigating flexible necks, super sensitive sight and more.

Day use or camping permits must be displayed on vehicles and can be purchased at gatehouse.

Hope to see you there!

Follow the Silvery Road!

Join us this Wednesday evening (July 22) for an incredible lantern-lit theatrical performance on the Silver Queen Mine Trail!
Our very own Director and past Friends President, Stephanie Gray, has written a fun piece of outdoor theatre for the park and Friends staff to perform along the Silver Queen Mine Trail . Shows are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Space is limited, so please pre-register (see below).
Formerly known as our popular Spirit Walk, this Theatre Through Time event will see Dorothy (not in Kansas anymore… North Burgess, in fact) lead you down the trail to meet characters like the timid miner, mysterious gypsy, the wise old foreman and a wickedly grumpy farmer’s wife, among others. As you may have guessed, this show gives more than a couple of nods to the Wizard of Oz. First presented last year, we had such fun that we’re offering it again two nights this year (again August 19th).
Tickets are only $3 and we recommend reserving them in advance by calling the park at 613-267-5060 (dial 0). You will need a park day pass or camping pass as well. Hope to see you on the silvery road!
